Introducing the Sparkly Soul Blogger of the Month for April 2012:
MICHELE KING GONZALEZ aka @nycrunningmama – http://www.nycrunningmama.com/
Michele attended the United States Military Academy, West Point, graduated and was commissioned a 2LT in the Army in 2003. She spent 6 years as a Military Intelligence Officer on active duty, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, with the 4th Infantry Division. She was deployed to Iraq three times. She fell in love with running during her last deployment from December 2007 until February 2009 – she turned to running as a way for her to clear her head from the long hours.
Michele has an 11 month old son, AJ, born Jan 9, 2011. She ran throughout the entire 9 months (up until the day before AJ was born) and was on the treadmill 5 days after delivery.
Michele competed with four other athletes in the Foot Locker Five Borough Challenge in the 2011 NYC Marathon. They ran the first half of the race together as required and then the second half they raced each other. Michele was the winner and brought the title to Staten Island!

Michele ran an ultramarathon in November 2011 – a short time after the NYC Marathon.
Michele began blogging in September 2011 and is a BIG fan of Sparkly Soul too – http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2011/10/11/sparkly-soul/ , http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2011/12/03/christmas-list-for-runners/ and http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2012/01/12/sparkly-soul-headbands-review-giveaway/
Michele is in the process of becoming a certified running coach and is pregnant with her second child! Yay Michele! She is due at the end of September and is aiming to run the NYC or Philly marathon in November !!! Wow! Check her blog for more coaching details to come soon, but she plans to offer e-coaching as well as one-on-one coaching (in person). She will be a running coach once she takes and passes the online test soon.
Thanks for being a fun, fierce and fabulous blogger Michele and for all you bring to the running community – we can’t wait to see what you do in the future after all you have accomplished in the last months!
Way to sparkle 🙂 xo
