Thinking of running an ultra-marathon? Check out Michele’s experience: http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2011/11/19/my-first-ultra/

Michele attended the United States Military Academy, West Point, graduated and was commissioned a 2LT in the Army in 2003.  She  spent 6 years as a Military Intelligence Officer on active duty, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, with the 4th Infantry Division.  She was deployed to Iraq three times.  She fell in love with running during her last deployment from December 2007 until February 2009 – she turned to running as a way for her to clear her head from the long hours.

Michele has an 11 month old son, AJ, born Jan 9, 2011.  She ran throughout the entire 9 months (up until the day before AJ was born) and was on the treadmill 5 days after delivery.

Michele competed with four other athletes in the Foot Locker Five Borough Challenge in the 2011 NYC Marathon.  They ran the first half of the race together as required and then the second half they raced each other.  Michele was the winner and brought the title to Staten Island! Foot Locker 5 Borough Challenge!!

Michele ran an ultramarathon in November 2011 – a short time after the NYC Marathon.

Michele began blogging in September 2011 and is a BIG fan of Sparkly Soul too – http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2011/10/11/sparkly-soul/ , http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2011/12/03/christmas-list-for-runners/ and http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2012/01/12/sparkly-soul-headbands-review-giveaway/ and http://www.nycrunningmama.com/2012/04/16/a-weekend-of-sparkles/

We are excited to feature Michele as our Sparkly Soul coach of the month because she is just plain and simple … awesome.  She gives her 100% in everything she does and truly loves running and the running community.  We love following her on Facebook and Twitter and heart all of her sparkly posts.  Thanks for being a fun, fierce and fabulous coach Michele and for all you bring to the running community!
