  1. i workout to be healthy and prevent injury. following a back injury in march, i realize how important it is to exercise consistently….and wearing sparkly soul headbands helps 🙂

  2. I run to be happy! I feel better, stronger and light after a good run then I feel all day. It gives me time to be me and hang with the puppy (sparkling the whole way of course!)

  3. I run because I love it!! I love the way I feel after a run. I love setting goals and working hard to achieve them. I love that I can look back on my training journals and see how far I’ve come. There’s nothing like the feeling of accomplishment that comes with crossing the finish line of a race! I just love it all!

  4. I run because I my doc told me I can’t do it. Less than a year later, I’m a marathoner and my doc is still *ahem* unhealthy.
I run because it freed me from the baggage – physical & mental and now I have fun get to let my sparkle shine, inside and out!

  5. I run to for the fun of it! I love getting outside for my run. Even on days when it is a short run- I feel so happy & grateful to have a body that allows me to run!

  6. I run to keep off the 50 pounds I lost. I run to feel strong. I run to inspire my Girls on the Run team to run. I run for race t-shirts and medals. I run for stress relief. I run so I can wear cute running clothes. I run to get a break from life.

    1. One winner is SO 2012! We heart you all so we let the random number generator pick TWO winners to this sparkly question! Yay! Megan Linge and Tricia Kelly, please contact with your color/width choice and your mailing address! Yay and congrats! Thank you to everyone who entered…you are all so inspring and sparkly!

  7. I run because I know how far I’ve come and I don’t want to go back to where I was. The weight (physical and emotional) that has been lifted since I started running has given me the strength to believe I can do anything I set my mind to!

  8. I run because I can. I never thought I could run 1 mile, much less 10. I’ve been running since September and just registered for a 15k.

It helped me stress less while writing my thesis and has given me something that’s mine and only mine in a house full of four boys, 3 dogs and a husband.

Running is amazing. I’m so glad I started.

  9. I run because I never thought I would be able to. 80 lbs heavier over 1 year ago, I decided to sign up for a 5K out of no where. I finished in 43 minutes, but I finished, and so started my determination to complete it in a faster time. I have done a total of 10 races since and have gotten a better time each time. My last race last weekend I PR’d again with 34:42!! My ultimate goal is to run a 5K in 30 minutes and feel I am well on my way getting there!

  10. I run because it clears my head if I had a tough day. I workout because taking classes like kickboxing keeps me motivated with like minded people.

  11. I run to feel inferior and beastly. I lose myself when out in the pavement and I when I am done, I am a new renewed woman.

  12. 2 years ago my older cousin was on the eve of his wedding when we found out both of his kidneys were failing. It was sudden and unexpected. He was the picture of health up until the month before his wedding. After 6 months of dialysis he died, leaving a hole in our family we feel everyday. Since then, my one surviving cousin, brothers and I decided to change our lifestyles. We have been given extra time, when our cousin died at 34. I started running because it reminded I was alive, healthy, and could. I am about to do my first half marathon in Januaray. Every race I do I write my cousin’s initals on my race clothes. Each race is dedicated to his memory. That is why I run. I am lucky to have one more day, one more race, one more breath.

  13. I run, workout, and dance because it makes me feel beautiful and connected wirh myself. It gives me something to strive for, to share with people, and to be proud of 🙂 I move and I sweat because I couldn’t imagine life without!

  14. I run because it’s part of me. I’ve been doing it since I was 5. I’ve never been fast, and sometimes I take breaks. But no matter how long of a break I take (and there have been some LONG ones!) I keep coming back.

  15. I CrossFit for health, to feel better about myself, to provide a strong role model for my son, and to relieve stress. No matter how bad my day is, when I walk into my CrossFit gym, before the workout even starts, I feel better. My husband knows which days I have worked out and which days I haven’t! Apparently I am a happier, more calm person on days I workout 🙂

  16. I run because of the way it makes me feel. Because of the confidence it gives me, the opportunities, and the health benefits. Because it’s one of the greatest forms of stress relief. I run because no matter what happens at home or at work, running is always still there for me. It’s one of the greatest escapes. I run because I can’t not run.

  17. I run because I want my baby who is due in June to come out healthy and I hope to make my delivery as easy as possible! 🙂 No better reason than running for my child!

  18. I run for stress relief and for the escape from daily life. When I run, I’m in my own world, where I’m more carefree, stress-free and relaxed than in ‘real’ life. It’s a healthy escape, especially in a tough workout that brings me back down to earth! 🙂

  19. Originally it was for weightless and to become healthier. Now after 135 pounds down, it’s totally just because its good for me. It also makes me feel better, and I know every workout just makes me a little more awesome 😉

  20. I run to heal a broken heart and crushed soul. I run to gain perspective. I run because it gave me my mojo back! A little over year and a half ago i started a journey in earnest. I ran 10km in about 80 minutes. Today, I can do it in 63 regularly. Ive run 11 halfs and 2 fulls in 2012. My journey is healing and showing me that I CAN, I HAVE, I WILL.

  21. I run because I didn’t ever think I was capable of it. I’ve realized through running that I’m stronger than I think. My goal for 2013 is 13 races!

  22. I run for a brief moment in time, I feel free, I feel like I am a bird soaring in air and how free I am. Running doesnt judge me , it doesn’t call me fat or tell me how skinny I should be! It clears my mind, fills me heart and makes me stronger. I was given these legs for a reason and I will use them for as long as they let me. I run for my kids and my family, showing them if I could do it, anyone can!

  23. I run because…
    It clears my head
    It makes me feel good
    It amazes people
    It inspires people
    It encourages people
    It inspires people

If I can get 1 person to try, I have accomplished my goal.

I run because I LOVE to and I would not have it any other way. Running is my life…

  24. I work out to work “in.” At first, years ago, I just didn’t want to be the “big girl” anymore. But now, I want to be better than I am, stronger than I am, break through barriers and set an example for my kids and live long enough to see them put these lessons into practice.

  25. I run/workout because my soul needs it. I have a history if depression and PTSD. No amount of therapy had the same results in lifting my spirit as running has. Running is my therapy, my passion, the bandaid to my soul. I run for my sanity. It’s convenient that it helps me be fit and healthy to.

  26. I run because I can, because it’s fun, because it makes me feel good, because I like to pass the runner in front of me, because it’s stress relief, because it’s thrilling…

  27. I run because I can touch lives. I can inspire, I can encourage, I can be a role model for my son. It’s my way to leave my “footprint” in this world!

  28. I workout to get healthy so I can be around for a long time for my family. My parents are super sick and they are in their 50’s right now…I don’t want to end up that way and I am going to have a horrible time of genetics. Working out helps me do what I can for myself despite my genetics.

  29. I run because its what I do. It’s me time, it’s hard, it’s easy, I want to cry, I want to laugh, I bask in the glow of sweat, I watch the miles click away on my watch, its hot, its cold, windy or rainy, doesnt matter. I run because its what I do.

  30. I run for stress relief. Ultimate me-time. Plus reaching running goals is such a great feeling of accomplishment and invincibility.
