Melissa is thrilled to be the Sparkly Soul Teacher of the Month! She teaches yoga and meditation in San Diego, CA.

Her personal yoga and meditation practice evolves every day, taking bits and pieces from a decade of practicing different styles, principally Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Anusara, as well as from books, lectures, classes, workshops and everyday life experiences. Her yoga classes emphasize the breath and proper alignment, and are built around spiritual or intellectual themes to encourage a state of awareness. She teaches Vinyasa classes at her favorite San Diego studio, Happy-U Namaste Yoga Center, meditation and yoga to kids and families in the oncology ward at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, and yoga classes in corporate settings.

Melissa created MindfulMinutes.com, a blog about mindfulness and finding balance in the digital age, where she invites students and readers to squeeze a deep breath into their busy days.

Her favorite part of teaching is the challenge of figuring out where people are in their journey, and meeting them there. It’s encouraging her students to challenge their bodies and open their minds and hearts each time they step onto the yoga mat. It’s finding the right way to reach people and connect with them … so they can relate and benefit from the practice of yoga and all of its teachings

Melissa’s also co-leading a Yoga Retreat in Costa Rica this November. Check out the program—a week full of yoga, hiking, organic food, meditation, hammocks, and surfing in the middle of paradise—Jungle-by-the-Sea Eco-Yoga Retreat.

Melissa radiates Sparkle and Soul and we are so excited to have her as our Teacher of the Month and to feature her.  Thanks for being so awesome Melissa! Way to Sparkle!
