Emily is thrilled and honored to be the Sparkly Soul Coach/Teacher for the month.  She is a native of Muskegon, Michigan, and she graduated with a BFA in Musical Theater from the Boston Conservatory of Music. Since graduation, Emily has been living in New York City.
For the last five years, she has been an instructor at Physique 57, passing on a technique she loves and enjoys teaching to students.  The Physique 57 workout is one in which arms, thighs, seat and abs get sculpted in the form of long, lean, gorgeous muscles. It takes the best of interval training and turns up the volume.  The interval sets use your body’s own weight as resistance. Your muscles are targeted and overloaded to the point of fatigue, then stretched for relief. This groundbreaking process, called Interval Overload, includes muscle-defining arm exercises, intense thigh and seat sequences, waist-chiseling ab moves and fluid stretches.
Even after five years, the classes still challenge Emily!  It’s the clients that make teaching the most fun, from hearing their success stories, seeing them grow and get stronger and even taking classes next to them.  (#barrebuddy)
As much as she loves Physique 57, Emily’s first love of exercise is running.  She runs in Central Park every day, even if it’s sometimes only a 10-minute jog.  People might think she’s crazy to jog in 9-degree winter weather, but her motto is: “When it comes to exercise, she agrees with the U.S. Post Office creed: ‘Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.’”  Jogging in Central Park is much more beautiful than looking at the dashboard on a treadmill.
If she could give only one piece of advice to any client trying to get the best results, it’s: 30% is exercise, and 70% is diet.  It’s like an iceberg: We may see only the 30%, but the 70% is crucial.
